What is Local Hack Day: Build 2022?

Local Hack Day: Build is your opportunity to spend a week focused on creating and developing the projects you’ve always wanted to tackle. In accepting this quest, you are in for an adventure featuring workshops, fun mini-events, challenges, panels, and more. These will help you to earn experience points no matter what level of hacking you are at, whether it’s writing your first lines of code or creating a multi-faceted project.

We will be bringing back all of your favorite features from Local Hack Day Learn, Build, and Share 2021 like challenges, live technical sessions with MLHers, mini-events galore, and some cool content from our partners! Here’s a sneak peek:

  • Beginner-friendly workshops

  • Challenges for all difficulty levels and all topics such as design, social, technical, entrepreneurial

  • Hacker-run guilds

  • Talks from friends of MLH and our partners

  • Live sessions run by MLHers

  • And maybe an appearance from Totally Not Ryan (TNR)

Can I get swag at this event?

Yes, of course! LHD: Build will feature some amazing 2022 Hackathon Season swag…you’ll have to participate to find out exactly what you’re getting!

What is a Guild? How can I be a part of it?

One of the best parts of our community is that it allows people to meet and make connections with others, regardless of where you live. guilds are smaller communities within Major League Hacking. Whether you come in with a guild or not, you won’t be hacking alone.

Who organized Local Hack Day?

Local Hack Day is organized by Major League Hacking (MLH). It is our mission to empower hackers worldwide by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Create any project that sends messages! I could be a simple hello, world or a full chat application. Message us if you need any help submitting on devpost.

Learn how to use Twilio and create a Twilio app

Twilio helps you add communications to your apps and websites. With Twilio, you can add SMS, voice calls, video calls, email, or WhatsApp to your apps. Get started using Twilio at LHD Build by visiting https://github.com/twilio/hackathons [ https://hackp.ac/lhdbuild-twilio-githubhackathons ]. You can submit your finished app on our week-long Devpost.

Build a Creator Coin Exchange

DeSo is looking for developers who can learn their platform and hit the ground running. Your challenge: instead of selling a creator's coin to extract DESO coin from the profile, build an application that matches a buyer and a seller at an agreed upon price. This is one example of building a service on top of DeSo's decentralized data. Check out the DeSo backend API documentation [ https://hackp.ac/lhdbuild-deso-backendAPI ] for more information and remember to submit your project to our week-long Devpost.

Build Your Own Social Media Application

Imagine a social media world without targeted ad campaigns and algorithmic biases. Use DeSo to build your own ideal social media platform. Fork one of Deso’s existing GitHub repositories [ https://hackp.ac/lhdbuild-deso-github ] and add whatever features you'd like! Another great way to get started is by running your own DeSo node. Check out the documentation [ https://hackp.ac/lhdbuild-deso-nodedocs ] and share what you’ve made on our week-long Devpost.
